It’s Advent, and I’m already playing catch-up. Maybe such is the nature of this season which brings us face to face with our failure to live up to our own expectations.

I’m reading Janet Morley’s new book: haphazard by starlight: a poem a day from Advent to Epiphany and thought that I would share a few favourite lines from the poem of the day, with am accompanying photo.

From Advent Calendar by Rowan Williams:

He will come like frost.

One morning when the shrinking earth opens on mist,

to find itself arrested in the net of alien, sword-set beauty.
